Do you question, within yourself, going to a FAITH-BASED (Christian) Support-Group, because of it's "religious affiliation? Are uncomfortable in going to a FAITH-BASED support-group because you believe the facilitator or facilitators are going to try and convert you to Christianity or "THUMP" you with the "BIBLE"?
Because of the complexity within Christendom/Denominations and or narrow minded, judgemental doctrines, the above questions do deserve merit. We know how the "Church" on a whole views Mental-Health and or individuals living with Mental-illness'. We know, all to well, the "STIGMA" that still exists among the Christian Community. This stigma is only there because of ignorance and fear.
A CARING EAR FELLOWSHIP FOR FOLKS LIVING WITH A MENTAL-ILLNESS is a Faith-Based Group. What does this mean, exactly? Well Bill Harle and Christopher M MacInnis are both devoted believers in God and His Love, Compassion and Mercy. Our testimonies indicate God's working in our lives. Bill and Chris Founded and or began ACE almost 4 years ago, February 2012. As Facilitator's it is not their agenda to preach and convert others to their faith. They simply believe, that by their individuals walks with God, folks will see God working. Their agenda is to provide a safe and supportive environment where mental-health consumers can come together and share and care for each other. They both have experienced the power of "Talk-Therapy". Getting all those thoughts and emotions out from your mind to your tongue, allowing peers the opportunity to hear your individual journeys. ACE is a place and time when we can freely express ourselves and what's going on with our lives.
ACE does open and close in prayer and we begin each meeting with a short devotional, giving anybody the opportunity to respond, be it positive or negative. We than go around the table for "Sharing & Caring"
That's it folks! How can it hurt, to give ACE a chance. Check us out before you come to judgements and than judge for yourselves!
Every time ACE is listed on kijiji we notice that there are a number of folks checking it out but we rarely see anybody coming to the Group after being informed. Would anybody like to let us know why? as we know you are searching, as we did, for a place to share what's on your "MIND" We know folks are hurting for the various reasons, come out and see for yourselves the power of "TALK-THERAPY"
On February 10 2016 ACE will be celebrating 4 years of Community Service to Barrie residents. We will be celebrating by having a Fellowship-Meal together @ 6pm. We will be ordering in Swiss Chalet, so we need to know if you are coming to the Celebration as we need to know specific numbers, as we do not want to waste funds that have been so graciously donated
Blessings are before you, just open the gift!
